What’s the best free program for writing ebooks and converting them into PDF?

I started in Word and pasted my content into igoogle docs and saved as a PDF and this isn’t working.
What program looks like the final product as I enter content?

You need to buy a PDF converter. They usually range around $50. I have one that’s called PDF Create! 5. Install it and you press the button that says convert to PDF (on Microsoft Word) and you’re done.

It is free, open source software that creates PDF files from any format. I’ve used it for several years now and the latest version is quite stable and easy to use. Best of all, it’s FREE!!! By the way, there are no viruses, malware, etc. embedded in PDF Creator; it’s only the program. No ads, no junk, no bloat - pretty much like everything else on SourceForge.
I use a free one called CutePDF. It behaves like a printer in that you select print in Word and it comes up as a printer. It converts the file to .pdf and stores it in the chosen directory.
OpenOffice can export to PDF.
I am very fond of PrimoPDF. It works like a printer: you simply “print” the document and PrimoPDF makes the eBook for you.
